If you know that you will need childcare outside school hours it is never too early to put your child’s name down for a place with Lindley Out of School Club. In fact many parents do so at least two years before their children start school. Adding your son/daughter’s name to our waiting list does not place you under any obligation to take up the place but it does ensure that you have a better chance of getting the days you want when the time comes.
At Lindley Out of School we know what an exciting, important and busy time it is when children start school for the first time. We also understand that it is common for children and their parents to be a little anxious about this new stage in their lives.
With this in mind our staff try to put parents mind at rest by holding an Open Day for all new children & their parents in the August before school reopens. The point of the Open Day is to see the Club in operation and meet the staff who will be looking after your children. This will also give parents the opportunity to ask any questions they may have.
Our Senior Staff members will also make a home visit before the Open Day to all New Starters so that when your children start with us they will already recognise a familiar face. This also gives the staff a chance to find out what your child likes doing.
A key person will be allocated to each child who will be responsible for settling your child in, monitoring and encouraging development, ensuring your child makes friends and understands the world around them. Parents will be informed who their child’s key person is at the Home visit or ‘Open Day’.
In September 2008, the Government introduced the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFS). This is a statutory framework to ensure that all under 5’s in childcare benefit from a safe, secure and happy environment where they can play and develop.
Whilst your child is under the EYFS framework the Club will keep a learning journey for them which will monitor their learning and development. This is now an “on line” journal that parents can access at anytime and add in their own comments.
Lindley Out of School Club is committed to extending children’s learning from school into our setting. Staff liaise with school on a regular basis to enable the Club to plan similar activities to those in school in order to extend the children’s learning.
If you wish to put your child’s name on our waiting list please complete the form below and return it to us, you will then be contacted nearer the time your child is due to start school to discuss things in more detail.
